Expert Answers about Hitch Step

  • Finding Bumper Guards and Hitch Steps at etrailer
  • Most of our bumper guards like the Bully Black Bull Hitch-Mounted Step for 2" Hitches # BBS-1102 are labelled as "hitch steps" since that is usually their primary function and bumper guard is a nice extra feature. Not all hitch steps are bumper guards though. They can be found in our towing catalog under accessories and hitch covers. We have some fun options in that category, from the Hitch Stair # RHS2 if you want TWO steps to the WeatherTech BumpStepXL for extra bumper protection. For...

  • Is Underside of Heininger PortablePet Hitch Step HE3052 Flat and Smooth
  • The underside of the step isn't flat and smooth, as shown in the provided photo. It would still work for you, but I'd recommend using a piece of 1/4 inch plywood or a thin metal plate bolted onto the underside of the step if you wished to use it in the manner you describe. This would provide a smooth surface for your pet to step on. I've linked to a product demonstration video for the pet step.

  • Bolts and Socket Size Needed for Trailer Hitch Installation on 2009 Volkswagen Routan
  • It was a typo and the 10mm and 12mm in the instructions should have been referred to as M10 and M12 bolts; the socket sizes are correct for installation of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13364 or etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98854 on your 2009 Volkswagen Routan. You can see this in the linked installation video I added of this hitch being put on an '09 Routan.

  • Nope, you will not need any type of adapter bar for your RadRover step-thru ebike when using the Hollywood Racks RV Rider Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes # HLY64FR. The RV Rider # HLY64FR doesn't use frame hooks like a lot of bike racks, it uses padded clamps that you can rotate and adjust vertically to grasp the frame wherever you need to.

  • Easier Way to Access Fifth Wheel Hitch on Flatbed Truck
  • There is no extension for a fifth wheel hitch handle to let you access it from a distance. The best solution for you would be to use something like the Wheel Step # PT68ZR, assuming your flatbed does not jut out over the tires too significantly. Otherwise, a simple step stool such as # TE97FR is your best option.

  • Hitch Step - Sensor/Camera Interference ON A 2021 Toyota Tacoma?
  • If you have ever put a ball mount in your hitch on your 2021 Toyota Tacoma and there was no interference, then you will be fine to use the BumpStep XL # WT81BS1XL. You will be able to see it in your rear view mirror, but it will not block a large part of your view because it's 24" long x 3-1/2" tall. This will be nothing compared to a bike rack or cargo carrier. If you want to make sure it will not interfere, go with this one # CARR190011B. This folds up so you don't have to remove it every...

  • Do you Have the Installation Instructions for the Curt Front Hitch # C31063
  • I definitely have the installation instructions for the Curt Front Mount Hitch # C31063 for your 2006 Ford Ranger. I went ahead and attached the pages to this answer. I also confirmed with Curt that this hitch fits a 2006 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4. Toward the middle of the second page of the instructions, it mentions using the factory tow hooks in the vehicle recovery and winching tips. For that reason, you do not need to remove your factory tow hooks.

  • Reinstalling The Underbody Panel On A 2023 Toyota Corolla
  • Thank you for taking the time to share all of this. We did install this hitch # C34UR on a 2023 Corolla here at our shop in Missouri (my Moms car as a matter of fact), and this model did not have the underbody panel at all. So it seems that only certain models/trims even have this panel present. I will pass this on to my contact at Curt. Thanks again for sharing. Cheers!

  • Traveling on the highway will not cause any issues whatsoever for the Swagman XTC-2 TILT 2-Bike Rack # S64671. There are no specific speed restrictions and the rack will stay secure in your hitch with its included pin and clip. I do recommend adding a lock to protect your investment, and it has the added benefit of being an anti-rattle device, the Locking Anti-Rattle, Threaded Hitch Pin for Swagman Hitch Racks # S64029. In regards to the adapter bar, according to the manufacturer one...

  • Strength of Steel Fender to Withstand 200 lb Utilizing as a Step
  • The Single Axle Trailer Fender # HP56VR is made of 14 gauge steel and has one edge that is a 90 degree angle to weld it to your trailer and the other has a more rolled edge. The strength of the fender and ability to hold 200 lbs is based on your mounting. To stand on this fender, you will need to not only weld the edge but also as you stated add brackets which will support the weight. The steel is strong, but I recommend using brackets that can hold the weight on their own to ensure...

  • Is There a Way to Tighten Connection to King Pin With Curt E16 Fifth Wheel Hitch
  • I have added a link to the installation manual for the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ R16 Roller # 16516 or the fixed Curt E16 # C16115 for you to check out, though there are really no steps you can take to reduce the slack with this hitch. The reason for this is the jaw system of the E16 is called a slide-bar jaw, and while this jaw system does the job, it also has the loosest connection of any fifth wheel hitch on the market so there is going to be more rattling and more slack when...

  • Will the Roadmaster Rollaway Trailer Hitch Protector Work With a Gen Y Hitch
  • The Roadmaster Rollaway Trailer Hitch Protector, # RM-050 will most likely work with your hitch but you will need to take a few measurements for confirmation. You will need to measure on the center of the hitch pin hole of your Gen Y hitch to the face of the hitch. We are needing 2-7/16 inches. This designed for the support bar to seat firmly against the bottom of the hitch. If you have a gap, adjustments can be made but most hitches meet this measurement. Please see the attached product...

The combined weight of occupants, cargo/luggage and trailer tongue weight (if applicable) should never exceed the weight referenced here." Then on page 246 there are numerous steps you need...

  • Stacking Multiple Cargo Carrier Bags
  • I would not suggest stacking cargo bags on top of one another on the roof of any vehicle. Motion and wind could cause items to shift in the bags and create an unstable condition. The extra wind resistance could also affect the handling of your vehicle, and reduce your gas mileage. You would also have to first consider the weight capacity of the roof of your vehicle by checking the owners manual or checking with the dealership. Even one fully loaded cargo bag could exceed the roof weight...
